Dr. Ashiba Marikar

Biography

Dr. Ashiba Marikar is a public health researcher, dental professional and
academic with a strong commitment to advancing population health through evidence-based research, health promotion and policy development. She is currently a PhD
Candidate in Public Health at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, where her research focuses on addressing contemporary public health challenges through interdisciplinary and
translational research.
Dr. Marikar holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) with Honors from the United Arab
Emirates University and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), where she graduated as
the First Rank Holder of her college. Her academic excellence has been recognized
through several prestigious honours, including nomination for the UAE Golden Visa
under the Top Graduates category and the Chancellor's Merit Fellowship Award at UAE
University.
Her research interests include epidemiology, maternal and child health, health
promotion, disease prevention, oral public health and evidence synthesis. She has
contributed to several international research collaborations, authored peer-reviewed
publications and participated in systematic reviews, scoping reviews and policy-oriented
public health projects. She has also served as a Research Assistant at the United Arab
Emirates University and has collaborated with international institutions on projects
aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Beyond research, Dr. Marikar is actively involved in global health initiatives through the
UNESCO Chair on Global Health and Education and the Global Consortium of Global
Health-Actors, Leaders and Thinkers (GLOBAL-ALT). Her contributions as a researcher and youth advisor reflect her dedication to empowering communities through education and collaborative research
